Prema legendi, utrke zmajevih \u010damca odr\u017eavaju se u spomen na Qu Yuana (\u5c48\u539f), ministra i pjesnika iz Razdoblja zara\u0107enih dr\u017eava (5. &#8211; 3. st.p.n.e.), a taj se dan priprema i jedna vrsta ri\u017einih okruglica &#8211; zongzi (\u7cbd\u5b50).
